24 Hours of Prayer Reports
September 6, 2008 – 6:00 pmAround fifty people are praying for Austin Mustard Seed over the next 24 hours. As they do, we have invited them to share reflections about their experience, or impressions of how God is responding, here on the blog. We look forward to hearing from those of you who have been praying in the comments below.

Loved praying for your church. Felt that God is going to provide but His timing may be different than yours. Also, to be strong with the vision… esp with those that might have personal agendas. Praying you utilize coach to full extent. May God bring you lots of servants… and especially the ‘right’ servants (gift mix, willing heart, sacrificial with time, etc).

Thanks for inviting me to pray for you as you launch your journey. As I prayed for you, I connected most strongly with the requests for your marriage (Kristin and I have been reading Eggerichs’ “Love and Respect” book together and talking about ways I can love her more and ways she can respect me more in line with Ephesians 5…I prayed this for you as well), for each of your kids (I prayed that they would find strong connections there as well as that your family would be more connected to each other because of this shared transition), for your finances (e.g. how much to be tentmakers and where the Lord might raise up support), and for the Lord’s vision for this venture (whatever form, team, and timing He might raise up). And then I prayed that You would be able to wait on Him and delight in Him as He directs your paths (Psalm 37 and Proverbs 3:5-6). May the Lord bless you in this work and may you find joy in the journey!

Thank you for the joy and honor of praying for you and your team this weekend. My prayer time extended well beyond 30 minutes! There were a few specific things that came up for me: 1) If you haven’t read Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire (Jim Cymbala), I highly recommend the book. It’s Cymbala’s story about how he and his wife started the Brooklyn Tabernacle from the ground up. My home group read it last Fall–so inspiring. 2) I had the sense that God has great things in store for you, and the image of Him taking a tiny seed (you) and turning it into a huge orchard (a whole body of believers) came to mind. 3) During my “listening time”, He led me to 3 different passages. They were: “Then Job replied to the Lord: I know that You can do all things; no plan of Yours can be thwarted.” -Job 42:1-2. “The Lord delights in those who fear Him, who put their hope in His unfailing love.” - Psalm 147:11. “Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, and with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone. In Him, the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in Him, you, too, are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His spirit.” - Ephesians 2:19-22. I can’t wait to hear how this weekend went–I wish you God’s richest blessings!

I echo the sentiment that it was a privilege to pray for you. Like Beth my time extended beyond 30 minutes and was wonderful. At my church we have been learning about Paul’s prayers in Ephesians and Colossians for spiritual wisdom, revelation, and understanding. That is my prayer for you and Sherri. That you will be able to see, understand, and walk in the spiritual understanding of each situation, and you will have the spiritual discernment you need as you walk through this. As we keep God central we are able to walk as we are filled with the Spirit. I felt led to pray that Austin Mustard Seed will be more than a church that gathers once a week for an hour or two, but becomes a community that shares life together. I also prayed for the welcoming and embracing of those who are sometimes marginalized by the church… the singles, widows, single parents, disillusionied, sick, broken in body and spirit, hopeless, hurting, seekers, and those who are embittered. I know you have a heart for someo of those people, and I believe God will be growig that and asking for a hand to reach out to some or all of those people. I have made a committment to pray for you and the new church plant I am a part of in this same way at least once a week for the next several weeks and I am excited for the outcomes! Thanks again for inviting me to join you.

Hey guys. I had the 4am slot and it was awesome. for some reason i was really awake at that time and felt God’s presence. I specifically spent time praying for your marriage, connecting w/ Austin, and your vision. It was obvious when i got done that God is at work there with you. I can’t wait to hear how he moves there. It was a blessing for me to be in prayer on your behalf. Thanks for that opportunity!

Hi guys! Sorry it took me so long to tell you about my time during the 24hr prayer. It was awesome!
I was up north in Payson camping during this time and I had the 4:30am (your time 3:30am my time) slot and I too was very awake. While I was praying, I had a vision that I’m really excited to share with you. I saw river or large stream coming and flowing down the middle of your street as you moved into your neighborhood. As the water flowed down your street, it flowed up to each door step of your neighbors and went into their homes. It was Living Water and your neighbors were drinking from it!
